Eric grew up in the Bronx, New York. He received his Ph.D. while working on HIV-1 Reverse Transcriptase and Integrase proteins. Upon completion of his doctorate he began working for the Department of Defense. He worked as an intelligence officer at the Defense Intelligence Agency, worked at the Pentagon, has represented the United States in intelligence exchanges with US allies, and headed an intelligence team whose work was briefed at the White House and was recognized by the Director of CIA. The team received a National Meritorious Unit Citation.
Eric currently works as an adjunct full professor at the University of Maryland Global Campus and has been teaching adults for over 20 years. He grew up shooting with his father and stepfather. He is a Maryland Qualified Handgun Instructor (QHIC) and holds the following NRA certifications:
