You will receive your Maryland HQL certification at the end of this class. This course is 10 hours long and includes both classroom and range time. The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. This is the instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. You need to bring your lunch and eye and hearing protection.

This class is a basic introductory class for anyone wishing to obtain the Maryland HQL or simply become more familiar with a handgun.
You’ll learn all about the anatomy and physiology of a single and double-action revolver and various types of semi-automatic handguns on the market today
You will be shooting to qualify at 10, 15, and 20 feet. If you are a potential instructor candidate, you will also qualify at 45 feet.
