You will be able to apply for your Maryland Handgun Qualification License (HQL) at the end of this class. This course is 8 hours long and includes both classroom and range time (range fee included). The NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience or NRA affiliation. This is an instructor-led course where you will receive direct instruction from an NRA-certified instructor from beginning to end. You will need to bring eye and hearing protection. The classroom is in Mount Airy MD, and the range is in Owings Mills.
If you already have your HQL and if you own a handgun, please bring it with you to class along with eye protection, ear protection, and 150 rounds of ammunition. Please leave your ammunition in your car until instructed otherwise. Class begins at 9:00AM at:

This class is a basic introductory class for anyone wishing to obtain the Maryland HQL or simply become more familiar with a handgun.
You’ll learn all about the anatomy and physiology of a single and double-action revolver and various types of semi-automatic handguns on the market today
You will be shooting to qualify at 10, 15, and 20 feet. If you are a potential instructor candidate, you will also qualify at 45 feet.
